Abstract

My research focuses on resource allocation and scheduling problems that arise in the design of protocols and multimedia tools for applications like video conferencing, video on demand and online music. In this talk, I will rst outline the basic principles in multimedia communications, then, I will present some potential multimedia applications like video on demand, internet telephony, video conferencing, and collaborative learning. Secondly, I will present some of the challenges in designing protocols and tools for the above mentioned multimedia applications. Finally, I will conclude my talk with some open problems.
